The install is what makes it reliable

The hardware is straightforward. What determines whether Starlink is dependable is where the dish goes. It needs a genuinely clear view of a large area of sky: a single tree edge clipping the field of view produces exactly the kind of brief, repeated dropout that's maddening on a video call.

We check obstructions properly, mount at a height that clears them, and route the cable through a sealed entry rather than a window gap.

Making it part of your network

Plugged in on its own, Starlink gives you an isolated network with its own address range and no relationship to whatever else you run. We land it into your existing router or firewall so it can serve your existing network, or act as automatic failover if your primary connection drops.

Before you call

Can Starlink replace our business internet?

For rural sites with no fiber, often yes. In town, fiber is usually faster and cheaper: Starlink makes more sense there as backup than as primary.

Can it be a backup connection?

Yes, and it's an excellent one because it fails independently of terrestrial infrastructure. We configure automatic failover so a cut fiber doesn't stop work.

What about obstructions?

This is the whole game. We survey the field of view before mounting and position the dish to clear obstructions, including allowing for trees getting taller.

Do you install on farms and remote sites?

Yes. Rural properties across Durham and Clarington are a big part of this work, including outbuildings and sites with no existing cabling.
