The office move IT checklist
PDF · 6 pages
You have signed a lease and the move is somewhere between six weeks and next month away.
Moving an office breaks more IT than any other single event, and almost always for the same reason: the internet connection at the new building was ordered too late. A business line can take weeks that nobody warned you about, and no amount of paying extra compresses it.
This is the sequence in the order things actually have to happen, with the items that have a lead time flagged so you can start them first. It covers the connection, the cabling, the phones, the alarm and camera transfer, what to do with the old site, and the week-of list.
Why it is worth having: Because the expensive mistakes on a move are all scheduling mistakes, and they are all avoidable if you know which things have a queue in front of them.
