The real cost of a bad rack
The problem with an unmanaged rack isn't appearance. It's that nobody can tell which cable goes where, so nobody removes anything, so it gets worse every year. Eventually the only safe change is no change, and a simple move takes an outage window and a nervous technician.
There's a thermal cost too. A wall of slack cable in front of switch exhausts traps heat exactly where you don't want it, and heat is what shortens the life of the most expensive hardware in the room.
What we actually do
We photograph and map what's live before touching anything, agree a window with you, then re-dress the rack: patch leads to length, horizontal and vertical management, power separated from data, everything labelled to a schedule you keep. Nothing gets unplugged that we haven't recorded first.

Before you call
Will this take our network down?
We plan for no unplanned downtime. Work is done in an agreed window, usually evening or weekend, and every connection is mapped before it's touched and verified after.
Can you do this without replacing our equipment?
Yes. This is a cabling and organisation job. If we do spot hardware that's failing or badly out of date we'll tell you, but we don't need to replace anything to clean up a rack.
How long does a rack clean-up take?
A single 42U rack in reasonable condition is typically one evening. A rack that's been added to for a decade, or a room with several racks, can run to a weekend.
What if our cabling isn't labelled at all?
That's the usual starting point. We tone and trace each run to identify it, then build the label schedule from scratch, which is most of the value of the job.
